Sam Raimi is best known now for sci-fi heavy spectacle films. He directed the blockbuster Spider-Man trilogy, as well as this year’s Oz. But Raimi got his start in 1981 with an independently funded horror film. Shot under the worst of conditions, Raimi’s Evil Dead would go on to be acclaimed by horror master Stephen King and launch the careers of both Raimi and star Bruce Campbell. With the remake now in theaters, Now Playing is watching and reviewing all the Evil Dead films. Is this original, low-budget cabin in the woods story worth resurrecting, or should it stay in the cellar? DONATE TO NOW PLAYING to find out!
