Back in the year 2000, two unholy videotapes entitled Ju-On: The Curse and Ju-On: Curse 2 circulated throughout Japan, infecting all who watched with the rage of mother and son ghosts Kayako and Toshio. Though the images were crude, and the narrative difficult to follow, the pair proved so transfixing that Evil Dead director Sam Raimi brought their story to Hollywood for the blockbuster remake The Grudge.
