More than a decade after Tim Burton’s film failed to make audiences go Ape Fox tried again to revive their historic franchise. Rather than again revisit the story from the original novel writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and director Rupert Wyatt decided to retell the story of how Apes began their conquest of Earth–a story previously told in 1972’s Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The result–Rise of the Planet of the Apes–was a critical success and box-office hit, leading to this summer’s hotly anticipated Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
