Wes Craven was horror royalty in the late 80’s, having created such classics as Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, and, of course, A Nightmare on Elm Street — the film that created the marketed and merchandised murderer Freddy Kruger. So in 1989 fans were anxious for Craven’s next film — Shocker, the story of mass murderer Horace Pinker. The movie was an obvious attempt to recreate Freddy’s success, but Shocker failed to electrify audiences but found a cult following on video.
