I know why you liked Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One. Tom Cruise. His death-defying stunts. His quick-witted repartee with his friends. His duplicitous schemes and solutions to seemingly hopeless situations. And his charisma and undeniable charm.
So what if I told you there was another movie, not in any franchise or series, that also stars Tom Cruise and everything he has to offer? Edge of Tomorrow (2014) is that movie. Great action sequences. Tangible chemistry with his colleagues. And that charm that blends both his naivete from his early roles–think Risky Business–with the intense confidence that you’re used to from his Mission: Impossible roles.
Edge of Tomorrow has one more wrinkle, though, that makes this a unique film–that gimmick. It is a gimmick, and you might have seen versions of it in other movies. But not like this, not in an alien invasion movie, and not with Tom Cruise. If you’ve stayed away from this one for whatever reason, just try it out. If you’re a fan of Cruise’s brand of action and swagger, then you’ll have a lot of fun with Edge of Tomorrow, too.
